- Jared Diamond is the author of the book Guns, Germs, and Steel.
- Some areas (Europe) with faster developments had an advantage when it came to making steel weapons.
- In Europe, the diseases at this time of the book were smallpox and the Bubonic disease,
- Jared Diamond's quest started in the Papua New Guinea.
- Diamond's a professor at UCLA in Los Angeles, California and started as a biologist (his real passion is birds).
- Diamond uses the native language mixed with English.
- Yali is a native who meets Jared Diamond.
- Yali asks, "Why do you have so much cargo, and we have very little?" He's not angry, just wondering.
- The natives put the colonials cargo on their heads.
- The colonials believe that power is determined by race.
- The colonials believe that they are smarter and more superior, but the natives are smarter (in my opinion).
- Colonials started putting the natives to work right after they go there; they use them like slaves.
- The natives can build shelters quickly without using fancy tools.
